Summary

The Lavazza Jolie stands out as an excellent example of why this brand has achieved such exceptional longevity, so if you want to ensure that your next coffee capsule machine will provide the quintessential espresso making experience, you might want to choose the Jolie.

For coffee enthusiasts around the globe, the Lavazza brand is nothing short of legendary. Founded in 1895 in Turin, Italy by Luigi Lavazza, this iconic manufacturer of coffee products boasts a market share of nearly 50% in Italy, and it’s the 7th ranking coffee roaster in the world.

With such heavyweight credentials, it’s easy to see why the Lavazza brand can be trusted to produce a quality coffee machine, and this is exactly what they have done with the Lavazza Jolie.

I discovered the Jolie when I was first shopping around for a new capsule coffee machine, but I was a little hesitant to pull the trigger because I wasn’t sure if this coffee maker could live up to the hype of its namesake manufacturer.

Needless to say, I was far from disappointed. This Lavazza Jolie review will give you a peek into my experience with this unique capsule machine.

Lavazza Jolie review

What I like

  • Compact design
  • Super-easy push-button operation
  • Quiet operation
  • Removable parts for easy cleaning

What I don’t like

  • No temperature options
  •  Bright colours not for everyone

What are you buying?

The Lavazza Jolie is a compact yet stylish coffee capsule machine that is designed to brew authentic Italian espresso using a refreshingly simple push-button operation.

This coffee maker features a 10-bar pump, which provides sufficient pressure for optimal flavour extraction without making too much racket during the brewing cycle. In fact, the Jolie is remarkably quiet, registering at only 44 dB when brewing!

Lavazza Jolie Plus

Lavazza Jolie Plus in my kitchen…

This machine offers you the option to brew single or double espresso shots using Lavazza capsules, and it produces a wonderfully rich and silky crema every time.

Truth be told, the espresso that the Jolie produces tastes no different than what I’ve had from professional-grade high-pressure copper boiler machines.

At 12.5 cm across the front, 33 cm long and 23 cm high, economy of space is the name of the game, so even if you have a small kitchen, the Jolie will easily find a home on your worktop (oftentimes with plenty of room to spare!).

Although the machine is small in size, it punches well above its weight in terms of making delicious coffee, but that should come as no surprise when you remember that it carries the Lavazza pedigree.

When you consider that this machine is the product of over 120 years of coffee-making experience, it only makes sense that the Jolie would be well capable of producing the consummate espresso.

How easy is it to use?

If there’s one feature that really stands out to me about the Lavazza Jolie, it would be its user-friendliness. Simply put, it’s hard to screw up making a cup of espresso with this machine.

All you do is pull the lever up to open the capsule hatch, load your preferred capsule into the machine, push the lever back down, and select whether you want a single or double espresso using the two buttons on top of the machine.

Once you’ve done this, the Jolie will do the rest, and do it quietly at that! Not only is the machine easy to use, but it’s easy to clean as well, with removable parts that are dishwasher safe.

What accessories are included?

The Lavazza Jolie is a very simple machine, and as such, it doesn’t come with any additional gadgets or attachments. The instruction manual is included, and Lavazza also furnishes you with a starter pack of 12 capsules so that you can begin brewing as soon as you take the unit out of the box.

Key features of Lavazza Jolie

Pros

  • Compact design is a real space-saver in the kitchen.
  • Super-easy push-button operation.
  • Dishwasher safe with removable parts for easy cleaning.
  • Single or double espresso option.
  • Removable cup-support rack allows for regular espressos or caffe lungos.
  • Quiet operation.

Cons

  • There are no temperature options with this machine, but it’s doubtful that you’ll be disappointed with the end result. The coffee comes out piping hot!
  • If you’re not a fan of bright colors, you might be slightly disappointed, because the Jolie only comes in in red, white, light blue, and lime green.
  • Only 600 ml water tank.

Anything else you should know?

One aspect of the Jolie that I believe deserves more attention is the brilliant design of this machine. Not only is it constructed to provide excellent functionality and ease of use, but the actual aesthetics of the machine are fantastic as well. The Jolie offers an eye-grabbing, almost “retro diner” look that is both attractive and compatible with a wide range of kitchen decor options.

Conclusion

Any business that has managed to survive for well over a century is obviously doing something right. When it comes to quality and reliability, Lavazza has nothing to prove, as the company’s reputation truly precedes itself.

The Lavazza Jolie stands out as an excellent example of why this brand has achieved such exceptional longevity, so if you want to ensure that your next coffee capsule machine will provide the quintessential espresso making experience, you might want to choose the Jolie.
