What are you buying?<\/h2>\n1. Combi coffee machine<\/h3>\n
Because the Dinamica Plus has both a built-in water tank and milk tank, it can make different types of coffee including pure black coffee and milk coffees.<\/p>\n
For black coffee, specific varieties include Espresso, Long, Coffee, 2X Espresso and Doppio+. You can also just dispense hot water.<\/p>\n
For milk coffees, options include Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Flat White and Espresso Macchiato among others. You can also just dispense hot milk.<\/p>\n
Once you select a type of coffee, the machine does the rest for you. Each variety has a pre-set recipe associated with it.<\/p>\n
The only thing you\u2019ll need to do is adjust the amount of froth as well as the amount of coffee you want.<\/p>\n
2. Integrated grinder<\/h3>\n
This is a bean-to-cup machine. It prepares coffee from freshly ground beans, providing an intensely rich flavour.<\/p>\n
Pre-ground coffee can sometimes lose its flavour with time.<\/p>\n
The machine has a built-in grinder that grinds up the beans on-demand. Using a dial, you can vary how finely the grinder mills the coffee to adjust the creaminess and texture of your coffee.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t have coffee beans or prefer not to use them, you can also use normal pre-ground coffee.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll have to change the coffee setting to ground and make sure the machine is on before adding the coffee.<\/p>\n
You can make the same types of coffees with ground coffee as you can with coffee beans.<\/p>\n
3. Adjustable coffee settings<\/h3>\n
Just because the Dinamica Plus has pre-set recipes doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t make your coffee the way you like it.<\/p>\n
The control panel lets you adjust the aroma and quantity of coffee.<\/p>\n
You can configure your coffee to be on the milder side or make it stronger. You can also adjust quantity from a shot-sized serving to a large mug.<\/p>\n
The height of the coffee spout is adjustable from 84mm to 135mm. This allows you to fit different cup sizes under it.<\/p>\n
4. User profiles<\/h3>\n
One thoughtful feature we love is the ability to set unique profiles for different users.<\/p>\n
So when you are configuring the aroma and quantity of coffee, that\u2019s just for you. Another family member or your roommate can set their own preferences.<\/p>\n
You can set up to 3 user profiles. There\u2019s also a GUEST profile that delivers coffee at the default settings.<\/p>\n
5. Water filter<\/h3>\n
The Dinamica Plus comes with a water filter to ensure you get the best quality coffee. The filter also prolongs the life of the coffee maker by reducing scale build-up (though you\u2019ll still need to descale the machine regularly).<\/p>\n
The control panel will display an alert when it\u2019s time to replace the water filter.<\/p>\n
6. Smartphone control<\/h3>\n
The Dinamica Plus comes with Bluetooth connectivity. You can connect your smartphone to it and access certain settings and features via the DeLonghi Coffee Link app.<\/p>\n
You must be within range to control the coffee maker.<\/p>\n
Unless you are really interested in trying out smartphone control, I\u2019d recommend you just use the control panel on the unit.<\/p>\n
The app has many dissatisfied reviews, with some users saying their phone failed to connect.<\/p>\n
But you can try it and see if you\u2019ll have more luck using the app.<\/p>\n
How easy is it to use?<\/h2>\n
This is far from a basic coffee maker where you simply add coffee to a filter and press a button.<\/p>\n
The first sign that it\u2019s a bit more involved is the digital control panel with a display. The menu has multiple settings you need to configure to make the best use of the coffee maker.<\/p>\n
The setup is the most involving bit. Once you\u2019ve selected your preferred language, set the water hardness level and created your profile, making coffee is a breeze.<\/p>\n
With the pre-set recipes, you simply press the type of coffee you want and it pours out.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ll of course need to make sure that the water tank and milk tank are filled and attached properly to the machine.<\/p>\n
It takes a bit of a learning curve to make the perfect cuppa. You may have to adjust aroma, frothiness and milling several times until you get the taste and consistency you are looking for.<\/p>\n
Maintenance is also a bit more complicated than with simple coffee machines.<\/p>\n
There are many more parts to clean.<\/p>\n
To help you out, the Dinamica Plus has a self-cleaning function where it rinses milk off the internal components. It also has a self-descaling feature.<\/p>\n
But this kind of maintenance is in line with other bean-to-cup coffee machines, especially the combination styles.<\/p>\n
